Thanks to the generous support of our community, we were able to give Dakota Haas, a 13-year-old Police Explorer who was severely injured by a vehicle, a check for $3585! His strength inspires us all, and he is back to school and being a Police Explorer after his period of recovery. Read the original story below.
The Loveland Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 52 raised $1,000 for Dakota Haas, a 13-year-old Police Explorer with Loveland PD, who was struck by a camper while riding his bike. Dakota became a member of the Loveland Explorer post several months ago. Although Dakota is not old enough to be a police officer or a member of our Lodge, he is a member of the Loveland Police family. Lodge 52’s purpose is taking care of our members, their families and the communities we serve.
Dakota was in the ICU with broken bones, a fractured skull, and a blood clot that caused his brain to swell. Dakota was in the hospital for an extended period of time and was not covered by insurance. The funds raised helped his mom Susan with medical bills.
He’s already shown a passion for public service and protecting the community as a member of our Police Explorer program, and we were glad to be able to give back to him.
